"The Moment of Truth" -- My Guilty Pleasure

I was so happy that one of my fave shows "The Moment of Truth" was back on last night. I can't get enough of seeing people spill all of their secrets on national TV, and then watching as the camera pans over to the family squirming in their seats. I wish I was witness to what happened after the show, but I guess seeing what goes on in front of the camera will have to do.

I would never bring any of my past boyfriends on national TV and tell all about our ups and downs no matter how much money was being offered. Millions of people do not need to hear about our sexual fantasies, unknown booty calls by him, the reason I would be tempted to cheat on him, etc... I have to live with myself after the show and face the wrath of my family and friends...it's just not worth it.

The best/worst part is when the host is like "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO RISK YOUR 100,000?????" and then they almost always screw up the next question, and lose it ALL. I love the girl yesterday who had her boss and boyfriend there and her boyfriend looked like he wanted to kick everyone's ass on the show.

Some people would probably go to 500,000 if their family wasn't there.

Is anyone else addicted to this show?

Would you bring your current partner or a past one on the show and spill the beans for money? Is it worth it to have all of your secrets shared on national TV for only 100,000?

Do you think these people are going on this show because they secretly want to break up with their partners and don't know how else to do it?

Ok, I guess today is National "My Co-worker Pisses Me Off and I Need to Vent About It" day.

Not only does she flirt with everyone, but she also wants to be everyone's friend. She even befriends the random delivery guy from the pizza place down the street, and already has his cell phone #. Today she told me she had like 10 days worth of work to do and asked her if I could help her. Here's how the conversation went:

Her: Can you help me out today? I am swimming in a sea of work.

Me: *Points to my bookshelf that has books that have somehow magically deliciously landed there* Sorry, but I have a lot of books on my bookshelf.

Her: *Nods* Yeah, you're right.

Me: Does that answer your question?

Her: I thought I had a lot of work, but you should be giving me YOUR work.

Me: Damn right...now please go bug someone less important than me.

Truth be told...I never have even looked at those books, and don't even know what they are about. This bookshelf was here before I worked here, and I liked the look of it, so I just left it there. All of my work is in drawers and on my desk, but was I going to let her know that? Hell no!

So, for the last 2 hours she's been shooting the breeze with another co-worker of mine. That's fine and dandy, but that co-worker is a bit "violent." She always smacks her knees and walls when she talks. It goes something like this:

Her: Yo...check this out...yo *smacks the wall repeatedly* Madonna busts some serious *knee slappity slap slap slap* moves on stage.

Me: *thinking in my head that I better get some insurance cuz the ceiling might start crumbling*

Her: *Knee slaps* Yo...Janet Jackson *wall punching* is da booooooooooooomb *wall slap* bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!

I agree with her in both instances, but I don't like to start my work day with a bowl of loud noises.

Have you ever dated someone who seemed to be friends with "everyone" and everywhere you went together, he/she would see someone he/she knows? Do you seem to know "everyone?"

She has even added most of her exes on her Facebook. She just wants "everyone" in her life in some shape or form.

Flirting With the Romantically Challenged Tech Support Guy

I've had the office crush, the office romance, and I've laid the "get the hell outta my face" verbal smackdown on an office employee. I have never, though, flirted with the tech support guy.

My co-worker sitting next to me constantly flirts with the tech support guy who has never even had a girlfriend. He's like 30 yrs. older than her and he's not even as hot as one hair on Antonio Sabato Jr.'s head. She has also flirted with guys at work who are married, engaged, and eloping with an alien. She looks like a librarian and gives off the image that she's Miss Prim and Proper, but yet she flirts with guys like she's a lion and they are her prey.

She's engaged and is getting married in 6 weeks, yet you wouldn't know it 'cause she only seems to talk about him when she's going in for her Brazilian appointment. I've only listened to her make her Brazilian appointment once. Now as soon as she dials the number, I'm outta there. The only "Brazil" thing I want to hear at work is that I've won a free ticket to there. She also once made an appointment for a full body wax, and one time she was telling her sister she needed to buy a lot of condoms for her weekend get-a-way with her man.

Do you know some people at work or school who just love to share their personal and intimate business? Do you know someone who flirts with practically everyone they come in contact with, even dummies in stores?

Am I the only one who's been privy to a "Brazilian" conversation at work???

Dating 101 -- Hugh Hefner Style

I'll admit it, I can't get enough of "The Girls Next Door." I've probably seen each episode a million times and I will probably watch them a million more.

I know that Hef is insanely famous, filthy rich, and is pretty much the only guy over 80 who has 3 girlfriends under 30. I also know that Holly is his "main' girlfriend and Kendra and Bridget are just "side dishes," but yet all 3 girlfriends seem to be ok with that. On the shows it always seems like Holly is the only one sitting in bed next to him and she gets special attention from him.

I was discussing "Puffin" (Hef) with my friend, Karen, the other day and she said she knew this 75 yr. old guy who was married to a 50 yr. old lady, but had a 31 yr. old girlfriend on the side. This guy was not rich or famous, and sex didn't even factor into their relationship.

Karen was friends with both the gf and wife and said his girlfriend saw him as a father figure and wanted to care for him, while the wife knew she would marry him when she had first laid eyes on him when she was 24. I don't know if they had strong romantic feelings for him or even if they were seen with him outside of the house. I'm betting money on him being a figment of everyone's imagination.

Do you think Hef is "the man" or a sick freak? Do you think the girls really love him or the idea of being in the limelight?

Girls: If your boyfriend was filthy rich and famous, would you allow him to have 2 other girlfriends, if it meant more opportunities in life were afforded to you for being with him?

From Text Message Break-up to Rekindling Romance

Remember my friend who got dumped by text message? Well, guess who's back to sitting in a tree ... K-I-S-S-I-N-G?

Yup, they're back together. He sent her a text message yesterday (Has this dude forgotten how to speak?) telling her he wants to be back together with her, and it only took her 30 seconds to text him back saying "I agree." WTF??

I wish she had spoken with me before she had texted him back. I could've sent some common sense brainwaves to her. I know she was a mess after they broke up, but I think with all of the problems she's going through... not having a "boyfriend" is something she didn't want to deal with.

He only has 2 rules:

1) No marriage talk

2) No engagement talk.

He listed them in that order...

She told me she's ok with his rules and she doesn't plan on getting married anytime soon. So, just because she's not ready for marriage, she's just settling for anything? Does that make any sense to anyone?

I was a Psychology major and I still can't figure out why she is putting herself through this.

He says he can now see her 3 days a week. From a weekend "booty call relationship" to a 3 day "long weekend hookup."

Is there anything I can tell her to help her see the error of her ways?

Is It Ok for Guys to Order for Girls in Restaurants?

There was this couple sitting next to me at Pizza Hut yesterday, and the lady was pretty much just eye candy for the guy and not someone who had her own opinions or even allowed to utter "Yes" to the waitress.

Whenever the waitress would look at her the guy would pat his wife/girlfriend on the arm and tell the waitress "Yes, everything is fine." Then, when the waitress would leave, the wife/girlfriend would say "Stop talking for me, hun!"

As the guy was answering for his wife/girlfriend, you could see that she was fuming on the inside, but she just sat there quietly. It was as if her boyfriend was shooting Kryptonite laserbeams at her, and she couldn't even move her mouth in the presence of the waitress. I wonder what else he doesn't allow her to say/do. Maybe I was reading too much into it, but it seems like they don't have a balanced relationship in general.

Sure, it's nice to have a guy open doors for you, but when I'm in a restaurant I like to place my own order and tell the waiter/waitress everything is fine.

Do you think their restaurant behavior says a lot about their relationship, or was I reading too much into it?

Girls: Do you like it when guys order for you at restaurants, even though they might only assume what you want, and not actually have discussed it with you?

Guys: Do you always order for your girlfriend/wife? Do you ever use the phrase "She'll have what I'm having" even though you didn't discuss the menu with her?

Finding Love in Strange Places

I was thinking about this guy I dated 4 years ago. We met in the place I wouldn't have even considered meeting a guy...Court. And before you start thinking who it could be, I'll give you a hint...it wasn't the Judge.

It was actually the guy who hit me in the accident. We had exchanged phone #'s when we exchanged insurance info and he wound up calling me a couple of weeks later for a date. At first I thought it was a little strange to go out with a guy who only a couple of weeks before I was cursing for hitting me, but I wasn't seeing anyone at the time and I was curious, so I thought I'd give him a try.

Let me just say I should've continued cursing him till pigs fly instead of letting romatic feelings enter the picture.

Guess where we went on our first date? *Jeopardy Final Round Music plays in the background* We went to this rinky dinky little Amusement Park near his house. There was only like one real ride and the other rides were so cheesy that I'm convinced they were mirages. There were only a total of 5 rides and he insisted we ride each one 3 times just so we could get our money's worth.

I was almost tempted to push him off the huge Octopus, but he was already holding on to his seat for dear life, so I couldn't move him. He was such a chicken on almost half of the rides! I think I would've had more fun sitting with my old school Cabbage Patch Dolls.

I'm sorry, but I want the guy to "protect me" when I'm watching a scary movie, and also to "protect me" when the roller coaster stops in an upside down position. I don't want to have to console him on a cheesy Octopus ride that no one has ever been scared to ride in the history of that ride.

Well, that was our first and last date. On the way home he kept talking about how scared he was, and not once did he ask me if I liked the rides. He didn't even attempt to win anything for me at the games, or offer to go out for food afterwards.

Where is the strangest place you've found romance, and did the relationship last long? Where's a place you would never look for romance (ex. at the gas station)?

Girls: Could you ever be with a guy who couldn't "protect" you during a scary movie, or on a scary ride?

Interracial Relationships

My brother's friend, Adam, is getting married to an Indian girl in 2 months.

Adam's parents were fine with their relationship before they became engaged, but now that the marriage is soon approaching, they are actually having second thoughts about it, and are trying to convince him to delay the marriage, so that they have time to set him up with someone else! The parents of the girl are fine with the marriage, but for some reason his family is having a hard time dealing with it.

Adam doesn't know what to do because his parents told him that they will go so far as to force him to leave home right now if he goes through with the marriage. I have never personally met them so I don't what their deal is.

On the one hand he really loves her, but on the other hand he respects his family more than anything. What should he do?

Have any of you been in an interracial marriage/dating situation and due to opposition from parents, it caused you to break up with that person?

In general, if your parents aren't cool with the person you are dating, does that affect your decision to date that person?

My friend Lisa got dumped by her boyfriend of 2 years yesterday. She would always tell me that she felt like she was putting a lot more into the relationship than he was, but she never had the confidence to break up with him. The day before she broke up with him she was fired from her job and last week her car broke down. The past few months have been one problem after another, but she thought that at least she would still have her boyfriend to leave on through all that.

She's beautiful, smart, and caring, but her boyfriend only saw her as a weekend fling. I'm not kidding...he would ONLY get together with her for 2 days, but yet somehow it was considered a relationship. He didn't even tell his kid who he had with a different lady about her. He would also frequently receive calls from his ex, but yet he promised Lisa that she was out of the picture.

My friend was ok with the 2 day thing and not knowing his kid up until last week. .. *Cue the Jaws theme song*

Last week she innocently asked him to go out on a picnic date with his kid and him, and 2 days later he texted her that their relationship was over. Whoa! He didn't even call her to hear her voice.

Now she thinks that no guy will want her because she's jobless and doesn't have a lot of self confidence at the moment.

Can this even be considered a relationship that she was in, even though they were both exclusive? Have you been in a situation where your boyfriend/girlfriend didn't want you to meet his/her family and let you fully into his/her life?

2nd Chances With Exes

Last month I saw my ex, Brian, at Barnes & Noble. At first I wasn't sure it was him because he was now sporting a shaved head, but at a closer glance there was no mistaking it was him. I tried to quickly walk around him, but when he called out my name really loud and everyone within 5 feet of him looked at me, I felt like I had to stop and at least acknowledge him with a wave. This is how our conversation went:

Him: Heyyyyyyy...long time no see! How've you been?

Me: Hhhhh hhhhh hhhhhii. I'm good. Look..I gotta run.

Him: Wait! Can't you stay a couple of minutes? I've missed you.

Me: No. Brian, please don't start with your "I've missed you" crap. It's over, and please don't make me feel guilty for ending our relationship.

Him: I've changed. Why can't you give me one more chance?

Me: You've wasted all of your chances. Please stay out of my life, and I'll stay out of yours. Bye!

Out of all of my exes, he wasn't exactly the one I was the most eager to see again. Our relationship was good, really good in fact, for a while, but then something called jealousy entered into the picture. He went from the guy my mom absolutely adored to the guy she wanted to call the cops to protect me from...

He started checking up on me when he wasn't with me, send a friend to spy on me when I was out with friends, and he even said that I couldn't spend as much time with my friends if I still wanted to see him.

If that wasn't enough, he started spending "mysterious weekend trips" out of state and whenever I asked him about them, he said "You don't need to worry about that." I don't know what flipped the crazy switch on him, but after he went on a 2 week vacation with his family over the summer, he came back a changed man.

I've never given an ex a 2nd chance, but if I did give him a second chance, I'm afraid I might wind up really hurt. He really hurt me the first time with all of his jealousy antics, so is it wrong to not want to give him a second chance?

Have you ever run into an ex, and he/she brought up the topic of the both of you getting back together? Have you ever regretted breaking up with an ex so much that you wanted to get back together?

And, last, once you've broken up with someone, does that mean you should never get back together even if they claim they've changed?
